一段话概述
Editas was among the very first CRISPR companies and ran the trial that first injected CRISPR into a human organ. It stopped that programme — the eligible population was too small — and later closed its cell-therapy work too. It now concentrates on one in vivo candidate, EDIT-401, aimed at lowering cholesterol. It is the clearest example in the sector of a company narrowing rather than expanding.
Editas Medicine was founded in 2013 by Feng Zhang, George Church, J. Keith Joung, David Liu and Jennifer Doudna, who departed early. Its EDIT-101 programme was the first in vivo CRISPR administration to a human organ and produced published evidence of vision improvement before being discontinued for population-size reasons. Editas subsequently discontinued its ex vivo assets and focuses on in vivo editing, with EDIT-401 targeting LDLR as its lead candidate.
