Cómo interpretar un registro de ensayo

Fase I

Pequeño, generalmente el primero en humanos. La pregunta es sobre seguridad y dosis, no sobre si funciona.

Fase II

Más amplia. Busca una señal de beneficio y más datos de seguridad. Muchos resultados prometedores de Fase II no se confirman.

Fase III

La prueba de registro — más amplia, más larga y generalmente la base para una decisión de aprobación.

Seguimiento a largo plazo

Los cambios producidos por la edición genética pueden ser permanentes, por lo que los organismos reguladores suelen exigir varios años de seguimiento después de que el propio ensayo haya concluido.
