The CRISPR Atlas

Clinical trial database

Filter gene-editing trials by disease, technology, phase, status and country. Every record links to its registry entry.

14 trials in the Atlas. Records are compiled from public registry entries, regulatory documents and sponsor announcements. A trial being registered, recruiting or completed is not evidence that the treatment works.

Status shown is as recorded in the Atlas — see each trial page for its own last-updated date. Registry status can change daily; ClinicalTrials.gov (U.S. National Library of Medicine) is the authoritative record for trials registered there. Trials without a registry identifier are early or non-US-registered studies and are labelled as such on their page.

If you are looking for a trial to join This database is for education and research. Eligibility is decided by trial investigators, not by a website, and this site cannot refer you to a study. Speak to your own clinician, and search the official registry at clinicaltrials.gov or your national equivalent.

How to read a trial record

Phase I

Small, usually first-in-human. The question is safety and dose, not whether it works.

Phase II

Larger. Looks for a signal of benefit and more safety data. Many promising Phase II results do not hold up.

Phase III

The registrational test — bigger, longer, and usually the basis for an approval decision.

Long-term follow-up

Gene-editing changes can be permanent, so regulators typically require years of follow-up after the trial itself ends.
