CRISPR Therapeutics was co-founded by one of the scientists who worked out how to program CRISPR in the first place. With Vertex Pharmaceuticals it developed Casgevy, the first CRISPR-based medicine approved anywhere. Its other work spans off-the-shelf CAR-T cancer therapies, in vivo liver editing and regenerative medicine.
CRISPR Therapeutics AG is a Swiss-American gene-editing company founded in 2013 by Emmanuelle Charpentier with Rodger Novak and Shaun Foy. Its Vertex-partnered exagamglogene autotemcel became the first approved CRISPR-based therapy. The pipeline spans allogeneic CAR-T (CTX112 and successors), in vivo liver programmes and regenerative medicine, with cardiovascular and autoimmune indications added in recent years.
